Biography of Professor Sharif al Mujahid
Born on 1st July, 1926 at Madras Prof. Sharif-al-Mujahid is a distinguished National Professor of Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. He is Honorary Director of Freedom Movement Archives, University of Karachi.
His education career

- Professor and Founder Head, Department of Communication, International Islamic University (IIU), Malaysia (1990-93).
- Founder Director, Quaid-e-Azam Academy, Karachi (1976-89).
- Founder Head, Department of Journalism, University of Karachi (1955-72), Assistant Professor and Head (1955)-62) Associate Professor and Head (1962-72), and Professor (1972-76).
- Visiting Asian Professor, Bradley University (Peowa,IL) and state University of New York at Buffalo, 1964, taught courses on South Asian History and politics.
- Visiting Professor Asian Civilization, State University of New York at Buffalo and State University Colleges at Cortland and Oswego, Summer 1968 and 1969.
Important Works and awards:
One of his works, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah studies in Interpretation was adjudged as the best work on Pakistan’s founder. It was published during 1940-82. For this work he received President’s award on best books on Quaid-e-Azam. It still remains the only work to qualify for the award since it was set up in 1981. His other major works include Quaid-e-Azam and His times. A compendium (Vol.I:1876-1937) (1990), Muslim League Documents, Vol, I, 1900-1908 (1990), and Indian Secularism. A case study of Muslim Minority (1970).
For his academic contribution over the past five decades, and intellectual expertise Professor Sharif al Mujahid was awarded Aizaz-e-Kamal/Fazilat in 2001, and Sitara-e-Imtiaz on 2006 by the Government of Pakistan.
The Collection
Sindh Archives has acquired the personal collection of Prof. Dr. Sharif al Mujahid. This collection comprises books, including rare books, related to the Pakistan movement and clippings from newspapers for the period 1946-47. This archival material is a valuable source for the researchers involved in research on the Pakistan Movement. This Collection include following documents and books.
- Annual report of All-India Muslim league (AIML).
- Resolution of the AIML passed/adopted at its annual session, and at its Working Committee and council meetings.
- Presidential Addresses at the AIML’s annual session.
- Addresses by Presidents, Reception Committee, at the annual sessions.
- Publication put out by the AIML and its subsidiary and ancillary bodies.
- Complete file of the Deccan Times (Madras) for 1946 and 1947.
- Special issues of Dawn (Delhi) and Morning Herald (Bombay).
- Clipping for various Muslim newspapers including Dawn, Morning News (Calcutta) and Star of India (Calcutta) pertaining to events and development during 1946 and 1947.
- Rare and out of print book, booklets, pamphlets and reports pertaining to the history and politics India and Pakistan.
