A delegation from the Turkish Consulate General in Karachi, led by Mr. Cemal Sangu – Council General and Dr. Khalil – Professor from Istanbul University, visited the Sindh Archives Department. The visit was a significant milestone for the department, as it provided an opportunity to highlight its archival practices and methods to esteemed international visitors. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Director – Syed Muhammad Mehdi Shah, Assistant Director – Syed Tanveer Abbas Zaidi and Section Incharge Mr. Muhammad Yousuf Khan – Senior Research Officer, Mr. Akash Datwani – Archivist, Mr. Hassan Jamil Abbasi – Microfilming Assistant, and Mr. Arsalan Farooq Shaikh – System Administrator. The visitors were given a comprehensive tour of the various sections of the department, including the Exhibition Gallery, Conservation Laboratory, Newseum, Binding Section, Stack Area, Library and I.T Section. Each section highlighted the department’s commitment to preserving and conserving historically significant materials. The delegation was impressed by the department’s efforts and praised the staff for their exceptional work in preserving the historical records of Sindh Province. They commended the department’s conservation, preservation and documentation cataloging practices, highlighting the importance of these efforts in maintaining the province’s cultural heritage. The visitors left their feedback in the Visitor’s Book, expressing their admiration for the department’s dedication to its mission. In the end delegation were presented souvenir of Sindh Archives Publications & Ajrak with Sindhi Cap.
